Liam has spent over a decade working in property across the East Midlands — and flooring is where it started. Before moving into wider renovation work, he ran his own flooring company, which means the trade this business is built on isn't something he learned second-hand or bolted on later. It's where he came from.
That background shapes how the company operates. Liam's view is that most flooring problems aren't caused by the floor itself but by what was underneath it and nobody checked. So we check — and we'd rather tell you a subfloor needs work before you commit than discover it halfway through a job and hand you a bigger bill.
He founded Flooring Nottingham in January 2022 as the dedicated Nottingham flooring arm of Derbyshire Specialists Group, bringing the flooring side of the business back to being a specialism in its own right rather than one service among many.
How We Work
We do things slightly differently to most flooring companies, and it's worth explaining why.
We don't have a showroom. Showrooms cost money, and that cost ends up in the price of your floor. More practically, flooring looks completely different under retail lighting than it does in your own hallway — so we bring samples to you instead, where you can hold them against your own walls, furniture and light.
You don't have to book a home visit to get a price. A short video call is usually enough for us to see the rooms, talk through the options and understand what we're dealing with. We'll have a written quote with you within 24 hours. For straightforward jobs we can often price the same day. If you'd rather we came out with samples, we're happy to — but it shouldn't be a condition of finding out what something costs.
Supply and fit, or fit only. Most customers buy the flooring through us, but if you've already sourced your own we'll fit it to exactly the same standard. We'll also tell you honestly if what you've bought isn't right for the room you want it in — much better to hear that before it goes down.
We take the old floor away. Lifting and disposing of your existing carpet or flooring is part of the job. In Nottinghamshire that saves a genuine amount of hassle, because the county recycling centres require you to register a vehicle in advance and hired vans need separate access arranged.
What We Fit
Laminate, LVT, engineered and solid wood, parquet and herringbone, carpets, vinyl, floor tiling, and commercial flooring for offices, retail and hospitality. Alongside those we handle the work that makes them last: floor preparation, screeding and levelling, and underfloor heating fitted at the same time as the floor rather than as a separate job by a separate trade.
That combination is deliberate. A floor and its subfloor are one system, and splitting them between two contractors is how responsibility gets lost when something goes wrong.

Manufacturer warranties on the flooring products themselves vary by range and brand — we'll point you to the specific terms for whatever you're considering before you buy, rather than making a vague claim about "guaranteed" flooring.
