Wet Room Flooring Nottingham

When it comes to bathroom flooring or wet room flooring there are a number of different option you could got for. Clearly as with any flooring some options will rule themselves out based on costs or aesthetics but if there is some flexibility on both there may be other factors which could determine the best bathroom or wet room flooring for you.

For bathrooms and wet rooms in particular the first step before we start any activity is to examine the current status of your floor and to see if its current condition is suitable for certain bathroom floor options. Generally speaking you will want a level floor so that any excess water does not slope and group together in one spot leading to an increased chance of water damage to your home.

If you are looking to tile your bathroom floor then a flat floor is very important except for where you are sloping the floor deliberately to take water from the  shower in the wet room to the drain.

Another increasing consideration is whether underfloor heating is also being installed and what aspects of the flooring will your underfloor heating installer undertake? We are happy to work with them to sort out floor levelling and floor preparation so that they can fit their pipes or wires and then we can fit your bathroom or wet room flooring after that - simply get in touch to discuss this with us.

Bathroom Floor Fitters

As experiences bathroom floor fitters in Nottingham we know key steps involved in fitting bathroom flooring. If bathroom floor tiles are chosen Before laying the tiles, we prepare the surface properly by levelling it off as previously mentioned. Once we know we have a good surface on which to tile we will lay down the right level of adhesive before applying the tiles ensuring that if there is a pattern or a mix of tiles that they will follow the agreed design. Once the tiles have been laid down. They should not be walked on for at least 24 hours to allow the adhesive to cure properly. If you have a large are it is likely that we will work with you to agree to do it in stages, so that you can still function in that room for as much as possible. Once the tiles have had the time to  set in place we will grout between them ensuring any excess grout is wiped off with a damp sponge. You can walk in that room but be careful not to treat on the grout until that has dried out too. Before leaving we inspect our work and encourage you to do the same with us as customer satisfaction is our primary focus.

Cap Coving Flooring Nottingham

The beauty about Flooring Nottingham is that when you are looking for help of options for bathroom flooring we can offer a couple very different choices which means we should be able to cater for your needs. As well as floor tiling we can provide also provide cap coving in Nottingham. Cap coving, essentially refers to the way the flooring is connected to the wall. Rather than finishing at floor level the flooring is taken part way up the wall. To make this aesthetic, and to avoid a sharp corner between the wall and floor, a cove is fitted between the corners of the floor and wall to provide a smoother arch, this forms a curve from the floor to the wall and means that the floor covering, which is typically a fully vinyl sheet is not strained and likely to crack as it goes from floor to wall.

As mentioned, generally it will be a single vinyl sheet used to provide a completely watertight floor to wall finish. Also with the coved joints it makes the bathroom more hygienic since there are no corners at which dirt and mould can form.

Cap and Cove vinyl flooring is a very popular wet room and bathroom floor type in hospitals and other health facilities as well as care and residential home. Selecting a durable non-slip hard wearing vinyl flooring sheet provides a clean, safe floor solution.

At Nottingham Flooring we can manage the whole install process form getting the floor prepared, supply and fitting the the coving and vinyl sheets to provide a total solution for you. If you have safety floor needs, please do get in touch to discuss your requirements in more detail.

Frequently Asked Bathroom Flooring Questions

There is a vast variety of floor tile options and if your wetroom is on a ground floor then tiling is good although is likely to be more slippery than a cap coving vinyl floor. If the wet room is for an elderly person we would suggest a cap and coving vinyl floor as this will be less slippery and if a fall were to occur there will be slightly more give in the floor surface.

  • HOW HIGH SHOULD THE BATHROOM FLOOR COVING GO TO? ?

This will come down to personal preference and how you may want to manage costs. In more public facilities, the flooring can come up a few feet up the wall but in more residential settings 6-8 inches is more common.

  • WHAT IS THE MOST POPULAR BATHROOM FLOOR OPTION?

In younger residential homes, tiling continues to be a favourite but in public environments, health settings, and homes with more elderly residents, a vinyl cap coving will often be specified.
